Christmas 2008

We began celebrating Christmas at Deedee and Papaw's house on Christmas Eve. Emmy, Grandad, Bryan and Morgan joined us there, and a good time was had by all!

Clare was very excited that the day that she could open presents had finally arrived!

Jane got in on the fun as well.

Sydney is looking very mischievous.

Clare got a dress-up trunk, and she enjoyed modeling the Little Mermaid.

I am loving Jane's curls!

We returned to our house that evening and got everything ready for Santa.

And his reindeer.

Santa did indeed come, and he brought Clare a mini trampoline that she loves jumping on. He also brought several little toys for the twins and filled everyone's stockings. Clare commented that morning, "I like Santa now."

Later Christmas morning, we headed over to LoLo and Pop's house. Nathan, Megan and Brody were there and present opening commenced again.

Clare got a laptop. A pink one, at that.

The crew...Brody, Jane, Clare and Sydney

Brody loved playing with his stocking!

An added bonus this year was knowing that my brother's family isn't just here for the holidays. They are here for good, and I know we are going to enjoy getting to be a part of, not only the "special" days, but they everyday, ordinary moments as well.

We had a great Christmas. Clare seemed to "get it," and her excitement was contagious. The twins were entertained by all of the activity, even if exhausted by the end of a very full two days. The holidays always have a way of making me feel very reflective and thankful for all that I have been given. Suffice it to say, I feel abundantly blessed.

I hope your Christmas was as great as ours was.

Friday Night Lights

Last night after dinner, we loaded the girls up and went to look at Christmas lights.

Clare had been looking forward to it all day. She even decided to bring "Molly" along.

Sydney and Jane were excited too. So excited that they both fell asleep!

Normally, we would get hot chocolate for this event, but it was so warm here yesterday that we opted for ice cream.

After about five minutes, Clare was ready to go home....until we spotted Winnie the Pooh, The Peanuts, and Sponge Bob. After that she was hooked.

All day today, she has been asking to go see her new "friends." I have a feeling we haven't seen those inflatables for the last time!

The Infirmary

My cup runneth over....with snot.

In the past week our house has been hit hard with some nasty germs. We've had runny noses, coughs, ear infections, fever, pink eye, and general unpleasantness.

All four girls have suffered.

Jane just isn't her usual happy self.

Clare has fared the best but hasn't escaped all together.

Poor Sydney got hit hard with a fever. She was so lethargic; such a change from her usual adventurous self!

I think the worst is behind us, and I am hoping we can be totally healthy for Christmas next week.

It feels like this stuff is going to last forever, but I know it's snot.

Bah Humbug

We haven't been feeling too merry around here, with four of the six little ears in the house infected. Tuesday was spent at the doctor and the pharmacy, and yesterday was spent at home trying to get everyone well and avoiding the cold weather.

However, Clare and I did manage to squeeze in some Christmas craft time. Clare was much more interested in eating the marshmallows than creating the snowmen.

She seemed to enjoy making Rudolph, although she isn't 100% sure about who he is. I am having so much fun telling her all about Christmas stuff this year.

Thankfully, Clare felt well enough to go to school today for pajama day.

With everyone on the mend, I think we are going to attempt pictures with Santa tomorrow. If you remember last year's picture, you'll understand my apprehension. I am really just hoping to get a decent picture with Jane and Sydney. We'll see if they decide to be naughty or nice!

Two weeks until Christmas......
