Remembering....Part 1

In light of Clare's upcoming third birthday, combined with the fact that I wasn't blogging during Clare's first two years, I am going to do a few posts this week remembering some special times with my oldest girl.

On Thursday, March 30, 2006, I checked into the hospital at 7:30 a.m. with Casey by my side. Soon the waiting room would be filled with soon-to-be grandparents. I was 38 weeks pregnant, and the day I was going to become a mom had finally arrived.

I had a great pregnancy and felt good for the majority of it. We found out we were having a girl when I was 20 weeks along, the Monday before Thanksgiving of 2005. After much discussion, we decided to name her Clare Morgan Eoff. Clare is my middle name and my maternal grandmother's middle name. Morgan has a strong history on Casey's side of the family, including his father, grandfather and sister.

My induction began on that Thursday morning, and soon labor was underway. It is a strange feeling knowing the day your child will be born. It isn't like in the movies with the frantic drive to the hospital in the middle of the night, but it definitely brings it's own sense of excitement. I think Casey and I knew our lives were about to change; but looking back, we had no idea how much life would change, nor how thankful we would be for that change.

Clare was born at 5:39 p.m., weighing 8 lbs., 2 oz. She didn't look at all like I expected. She had dark hair, and a lot of it, with olive skin. She was beautiful. And she was ours. I remember looking into her eyes and feeling like I had known her all my life.

Clare's birthday was such a special, monumental day in my life. A day that we will certainly celebrate in the next week!

Rite of Passage

Clare cut her hair tonight.
It was up in pigtails, and she was getting ready for her bath. Sometimes we cut the rubber band that holds her pigtails instead of pulling it out. I was doing something with the twins, and I look up and see Clare with the scissors up to her pigtail. She managed to cut this much out before we got the scissors from her. Thankfully, it was hair at the back and on the underside, and I don't think it is too noticeable. I am just glad she didn't lop off the whole pigtail.

Sweet Dreams

One of my favorite times of the day is reading books to Sydney (left) and Jane before naps and before bedtime. They are both so sweet and cuddly during that time.

Of course, Clare is never far away. She doesn't ever miss out on any of the action.

All of my girls enjoy books, but Jane seems to really like them.

I have said it before, and I will probably say it again, but I am loving Jane's curls.

The only thing sweeter than rocking and reading to one baby is rocking and reading to TWO babies!

Doctor Reports, Bath Time, and Playtime

Jane (right) and Sydney went to the doctor today for 15 month check-ups.

Sydney is still little, weighing in at 20 lbs. on the nose. She is 30 1/8 inches long.

Jane weighs more at 21 lbs. 5 oz and is 29 1/4 inches long.

Both girls got a good report, aside from an ear infection for Syd. I think next year we are going to try to purchase a 5 gallon jug of antibiotics to get us through the winter. If only...

--------------------------------------------------------------

We typically bathe all three girls together.
Why do they insist on gathering at one end of the tub?

---------------------------------------------------------------

The girls always enjoy playing on Clare's bed after bath time. With all three of them going different directions, sometimes it is hard to make sure all the girls are OK. Not to worry though, Clare knows CPR!

So Far Today.....

  • Sydney got a chocolate milk container....out of the trash can.
  • Clare spilled red juice on a tan bench.
  • Sydney took her diaper off during her morning nap.
  • Sydney put her lovey in the toilet.
And it is only 1:00.

Because Mamma Asked For More Pictures

My mom told me today that my grandmother requested new pictures.
Ask and ye shall receive.

Sydney

My almost three year old.

Jane

Clare and Jane were playing together after naps this afternoon. I grabbed the camera and was able to get Jane laughing at her big sister.

Sydney with her lovey. She loves her lovey.

Jane isn't walking yet, but she is making some good progress. Here she is making strides behind her car:

Check out all this hair. Soon I am going to have three heads of hair to fix everyday.
