Thanksgiving Break

It was fun having a week off from school for Thanksgiving.  On Graham's last day before break, he had a feast at his school.  He was all decked out when I went to meet him!

The weather was great for most of the week off, so we spent several days at the park!  So nice to be able to burn some energy outdoors!

Casey had to work everyday except Thursday, so it was super nice to have him home on Thanksgiving.  He was in charge of the turkey and he had a few (sleepy) helpers.

We spent this Thanksgiving Day with Casey's side of the family at Deedee and Papaw's house.  It was a fun day filled with lots of great food!

Our Christmas tree is up and our stockings are hung.

And this morning we were greeted by Frank the elf, so I guess Christmas time is upon us!

"My Girls"

One of my favorite things that Graham does is when he refers to his sisters as "my girls."

After the girls have gone to school, he'll randomly say, "hey mom, where my girls?"  Or, if he doesn't know what they're up to, he'll say, "what my girls doing?"

He definitely has a soft spot for his three older sisters.

Now, don't get me wrong, they drive him crazy at times, for sure.  But for the most part, he loves them.

I'm so thankful that Graham loves "my girls," and that the feeling is most certainly mutual!

All Things Jane!

Jane Jennings is quite possibly the sweetest child that ever existed.

She's just so nice.  A couple of weeks ago, on a Friday, her teacher told the class that they would be getting a new student on the upcoming Monday.  Jane told me "I need to make a card for Jasmine, the new student."  I asked if her teacher told them to do that.  She replied, "no, I just want to."

She frequently thinks of others before herself!  She is so willing to sacrifice what she wants to do, sometimes to a fault!  She is so sweet to Graham, and is constantly writing me little this one I found on my grocery list.

Now, of course, she has her moments.  She can whine, and she gets mad at her sisters (and her parents), and really doesn't like it when things don't seem "fair!"  However generally speaking, she is delightful and eager to please.  Such a positive presence!

She is having a great year in school, can most often be found wearing jewelry of some sort, and loves to color.  Jane loves salty foods more than sweet, requires a lot of sleep, and has the best handwriting around.  She finished up a good soccer season, has mastered bike riding, and loves to swing.

She is sweet as sugar and has a heart of gold!

Halloween Week!

Halloween week started with a trip to church for Trunk or Treat!  This was the first time that the Turtles had all worn their costumes, and there were a few costume issues that needed to be worked out.  It was a good trial run!  Nonetheless, the kids had fun and got a lot of candy!

Graham had a petting zoo/pumpkin patch day at his school.  He held a rabbit, fed a goat, brushed a sheep, and seemed to really enjoy the animals.

He had to decorate a pumpkin, and this was his creation!  I painted the nose and the scar, but the rest of it was all Graham!

Then on Thursday, he got to wear his 'Donnie' costume to school and have a party!

They made spooky spider hats!

At last, Halloween night was upon us!  We got everyone in costume, and headed down the street to the drainpipe to get some authentic Ninja Turtle pictures!

Michelangelo was feeling it!

Donatello was fierce!

Raphael was nervous, but brave enough to get in the pipe!

And Leonardo was ready to fight!

I have to hand it to my kids...they totally embrace the theme costume.  When I suggested that they dress up like the Ninja Turtles, they were all totally on board!  We'll see if that continues next year?

We went and visited some friends, and then headed to the park for pizza.  The costumes didn't slow these kids down!

And then it was off for Trick or Treating!  The kids got way more candy than they need, the weather was nice, and the costumes all survived!  It was a success!
