Time for Tea

The girls went to a Fancy Nancy tea party birthday party, and they loved it!

They practiced their "pinkies up" and saying "spot of tea."  I think they felt very fancy!

When Graham saw the girls with their hat and "hands," he felt very strongly that he needed some of his own!  He even attempted the pose!

If he ever gets invited to a tea party, he'll be all set!

Family Party

Sunday night our whole family gathered to celebrate Clare.

We visited, had dinner, and then finally it was time to open presents!  Clare was so excited about all her gifts.  She scored ice skating lessons,

 some new karaoke cds,

and a new HUGE bike!  I can't believe this is the size that she needs!  Man, she looks old.

Clare requested an ice cream cake with chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream and yellow cake....so that's what I made her.  I love this picture below.

No gathering is complete without a cousin pile up.  Graham is getting big enough to be in on the action.

Clare put her new dry erase board to good use when she wrote this appropriate note.

At one point in the evening, Clare came up to me with a huge smile on her face and said, "Can it get any better than this?"  Seeing my girl feel so special, I had to wonder the same thing.

Pancakes and Pajamas, Seven Year Old Style

When discussing birthday themes, pancakes and pajamas came up. Jane and Sydney celebrated with a pancake and pajama party when they turned four. Clare liked the theme, but wanted to make sure it was "Seven Year Old Style" so we added some peace signs and neon! She also wanted to invite only seven year old girls...she is getting quite particular in her old age!

The kids were all in their pajamas and they were ready for guests to arrive!  Even though Jane, Sydney and Graham aren't  seven, they got to participate...Mama's rules!

First up, the girls made fruit loop necklaces!

They really got into it and made some really long necklaces

and crowns!

Then, it was time to eat.  We had blueberry, chocolate chip, and plain pancakes.

For her birthday cake, Clare decided to have monkey bread, which worked perfectly with this theme.

Then it was time to decorate pillowcases.  We had pillowcases with "Sweet Dreams" and a peace sign printed on them to color.
The girls worked so hard on these.  I was really impressed!

Here is Clare's creation.

Next up, it was time for presents.  Clare got some great gifts, and she was genuinely excited about all of them.

The girls wandered upstairs and sang karaoke, but not just the girls!

We had a sweet group of girls over who were all so well-behaved.

Everyone took their party favors and headed home.  It was a super fun party that I think Clare enjoyed.

Clare isn't officially seven until next weekend, and I am holding on to every last day!

Next up, the family party!

Spring Break Staycation

We decided to lay low this spring break and just do a few things around town.  Casey took a few days off work, and we taught the kids the meaning of a "staycation!"

First up, picking out new swimsuits.  This has been a much anticipated activity, and the girls picked out really cute suits....after trying on two million!

I know this picture is blurry, but how sweet that when I told Jane and Sydney to pose for a picture, they grabbed hands!

On Saturday, we put those suits to good use and headed up to the natatorium and swam the afternoon away.   The kids love swimming, and they enjoyed doing it at this unexpected time!

We also filled our days with fun things like root beer floats and playing with shaving cream....an old but favorite activity.

On Sunday night, we let the girls stay up super late and played a lot of games.  The girls are at great ages for game play, and I think they felt "big" staying up later later than Graham.

Our big activity for Monday night was CAMPING!  We set up the tent in the backyard, and you would've thought that we set up a giant bouce house.  They were going crazy!

Graham enjoyed playing in the tent even though he had no idea what was coming that night!

We did the whole shebang...cooked hot dogs outside, had a campfire,  and made s'mores,

and then snuggled in for the night!

It was cold!  The girls did great.  Graham did pretty well until about 4, and then he was done.  Casey  took him inside to the warm bed....it didn't take much convincing him!  The girls and I stuck it out and finished the night!  It was fun, and I think it might become a tradition!

Our final fun activity before Daddy has to return to work was playing miniature golf.  It was a beautiful day, and it was nice to be outside.

This was how Graham spent most of the afternoon....putting his ball in the hole and taking others out!

I think the girls had fun, but I am not sure we have any professional golfers in our future!

I think Casey was slightly disturbed when he heard Syd say "Hey, where's my hitter?"  talking about her golf club!

It was a nice afternoon, but I think we will wait a while before we go again.  I think will be a little easier when our kids get a little older.

We have had a fun, busy Spring Break so far....and it's only half over!  I love having my kids home from school, and getting Casey home too is icing on the cake!
