Go Fish!

We have successfully completed another year of swim lessons!

Clare did great.  She learned some new strokes, worked on swimming longer distances, and declared herself the "queen of the backstroke!"

All of the kids are placed in groups according to skill level.  Jane and Sydney were placed in the same group, which they loved.

Jane was slightly nervous the first day.  She liked her teacher, but wasn't sure she could do everything that was asked of her.

I am proud to say that she pushed through and wound up really enjoying herself AND getting so much better!  She went from not enjoying her face being in the water, and now she can actually swim!

This pictures sums it up perfectly....she doing it, but she's nervous!

Is anyone surprised that Sydney is fearless in the water?  She is a little fish, constantly swimming around and trying new things.

She improved during these lessons, learned how to take breaths and keep on going and worked on her dives!

Graham, as usual, was a trooper.  He didn't seem to mind hanging out and watching the lessons, but I am sure he was glad when they were over!

Another year of swim lessons in the books....and I am happy to say they are paying off.
Good job, girls!

Father's Day

Father's Day is upon us!  The kids filled out why they love their dad, I took pictures, and we emailed them to Casey throughout the week.

"I love Dad because he throws me high and he wrestles with me!!!  Dad rocks!!!"

Sydney says, " I love my Dad because the throws me high in the pool and he plays with  me."

"I love Dad because he makes ribs for me and he swims with me." from my little meat-eater.

While Graham is a bit too young to understand Father's Day and exactly why he loves his dad, make no mistake....he LOVES his daddy!  He gets so excited when Casey walks in the door after work.  A huge smile comes across his face, and he toddles his little self over to Casey as quickly as his little feet will carry him, squealing the whole time.

I am so thankful for the father that Casey is to our kids.
Happy Father's Day!

A Little Bit About Graham

Graham is 13 months old....and into everything!

He hasn't had a real hair cut yet.  I trimmed a little on the sides, but I can't bring myself to cut off these curls.

He is a full-time walker....sometimes a runner!

He always knows what his sisters are doing.  Most often, he wants to be a part of it.

He talks a lot!  He doesn't say a lot of real words, but he has full-on conversations with us in his own language.   He says "uh-oh," "ball," and "woof-woof."

With the exception of the church nursery, he is almost always happy.  He goes with the flow, and is pretty low-key.

Graham still takes two naps a day and sleeps for about 11-12 hours at night.  He does lots of "tricks"....clapping, waving, giving high five, to name a few.

He is at a really fun, busy age...learning new things everyday!

First Week of Summer

I blame the first days of summer for my slow blogging week.  We have had a busy first week getting in the groove of summer.  I am trying to make sure a few things get done every day to avoid completely lazy kids.  The girls and I clean one room every day while Graham naps in the morning and we have a little individual reading time for each kid.  Some days these tasks are completed with a smile, while others are less enthusiastic.  In addition from these daily activities, we have had lots of fun!

Last weekend, I enjoyed a shopping day with my mom. So nice!  While I was out, Casey took the kids down to his mom's for some swimming.  Deedee's next door neighbor has a diving board, and our girls took advantage!

Clare is a good little swimmer, and she loved the diving board.

Sydney is fearless and will try anything. She practiced her cannonball, toe touch, and pencil!

Jane is more cautious, but with her puddle-jumper, she went for it!  And I think she loved it!

Reportedly, Graham sat by and watched.  And he was apparently quite entertained by all the jumping.

The rest of our week held swimming lessons, a slumber party with LoLo and Pop, checking out a million books from the library, playing with friends, seeing The Lorax, and going to a splash pool.  We also swam several times and completed a few crafts.

My friend, Julie, told me about this fun idea....watermelon popsicles!

The girls took cookie cutters to watermelon slices, put them on a popsicle stick, and put them in the freezer.  They had fun creating different shapes, from hearts to Halloween cats!

They were so amazed this afternoon when I let them eat "as many as they wanted to!"

The first week of summer has a been a success.  I am enjoying having the kids home and having a more relaxed schedule.  Here's to more summer fun!
