Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Last night at dinner Clare says, "I forgot to tell you what John did at school today during circle time."
"What did John do?"
"He tooted."
Everyone starts laughing.
Casey asks, "What did everyone do?"
Clare answers, "Mike said, 'Who farted?"
Casey and I both mistakenly start laughing, which prompts Clare to say that about ten more times. So then we tell Clare that we don't use that word and we don't want to hear it anymore.  It takes a few reminders for her to understand that we are serious.  But, by the end of dinner, she understands that she isn't supposed to say that.

Fast forward to bed time.....I am putting Clare to bed, and she looks up at me with her sweet, innocent eyes and says, "I really want to say the 'f-word'."

Don't you hate having to suppress your laughter sometimes, even if you know it's the right move?

That is kinda like Brody swatting the man. Too funny and needed to have a laugh but not good for the kids! Love you. Jen
