It Just Keeps Getting Better!!!

Christmas 2010

Christmas is so much fun with little ones around. Every year the girls are getting more and more into it, and I LOVE watching it all unfold. Their excitement is contagious.

We began our celebration on Christmas Eve at Deedee and Papaw's house with all of Casey's family. The girls were thrilled to get there and start opening presents!

Before the unwrapping began, we were able to capture a family picture.

Let the games begin!
The girls started with stockings, and were delighted with each little surprise...

...even new Minnie Mouse underwear!

Everyone had lots of help opening all of their presents.

Sydney was excited to get new boots.

Jane modeling her new necklace. You can see Daddy's prized possession by his feet....a PS3.

Clare was thrilled with her school bell from Aunt Morgan. Now she can really keep her students in line!

Baby boy raked in a pretty good haul as well!
(Still seems so odd to me to be opening little boy stuff....will it ever sink in???)

After our first celebration was complete, we came home to get ready for Santa! We set food out for the reindeer, got milk and cookies ready for Santa, said good-bye to our elf, and wrote Santa a letter. This was so fun....there was so much anticipation!

The girls actually went to sleep pretty easily that night. They were up late and worn out from the day's events. Everyone slept good, and Clare woke us up energetically with, "Santa came....and he brought me roller skates!"

Santa came through!
He brought Clare roller skates, a Barbie, a remote control dog, and an umbrella.

Sydney scored with Tinkerbell make-up, a vanity, and an umbrella.

Jane got a pink and purple train set, a Wendy doll, and an umbrella.

The girls all seemed thrilled with their gifts, and so amazed that Santa had brought them what they asked for...and then some.

Next, our little family of five did our Christmas together. We opened our presents and had a light breakfast.

The girls all got capes that I commissioned my mom to make for them.

Sydney (a.k.a. Tiana) had to try on every article of clothing she got...dress-up or otherwise.

After breakfast and a little toy-playing, we got dressed, and headed over to my parents' house where we were joined by Nathan's family, my grandmother, and my aunt Jennifer.

The Christmas chaos continued!

More stockings.....

After stockings, we had brunch, and then began to open presents.

Jane is ready for rain, snow, or Flamenco dancing!

Bean bags for everyone!

I can't say it enough...it really was such a fun year. With age, the girls become more excited and less dependent on getting the exact amount of sleep they need. They were all in good moods throughout all of the festivities.

Many thanks to our very generous families who give us way more than we deserve...at Christmastime and throughout the year!

Scenes From The Season

Jane mailing her letter to Santa!

On Saturday, we went to the holiday breakfast at church.

The girls had fun making crafts,

listening to stories,

and singing Christmas karaoke!

Here are the girls before church yesterday. Jane was in "a mood." With three girls, it happens frequently!

Clare, in a very silly mood, before she and I went to see The Nutcracker.

A rare moment of sister lovin'!

Makes a Mama Proud

The other day at the doctor's office, Clare and the doctor had the following conversation:
Dr. C: What holiday is coming up?
Clare: CHRISTMAS!
Dr. C: And what happens at Christmas?
Clare: We celebrate Jesus' birthday!

I was pleasantly surprised that the words "we get lots of presents" didn't cross her lips!

********
I will leave you with this picture of Clare sporting her latest accessory...glasses with clear lenses. She tells me that she wears them when she "doesn't feel like putting her contacts in."
What a (grown-up looking) goofball!

'Tis the Season...

...for lots of Christmas activities!

We have been...

decorating Christmas cookies with all the grandmas,

trying to find Frank the elf every morning,

wearing cute Christmas dresses,

counting down until the big day,

and even getting emails from Santa!

We have less than two weeks to go until Christmas day, and I know the days until then will be filled with even more holiday fun!

Party Pics!

We had a family party for Jane and Sydney on Saturday. True to form, Sydney insisted on a princess party and Jane wanted Minnie Mouse. So, we had the first ever "Princess/Minnie Mouse" birthday party!

Here are the birthday girls donning their respective birthday shirts!

My friend Julie HAS a bounce house and was kind of enough to loan it to us for the party. There were four kids there (Jane, Sydney, Clare and Brody) and they all loved it! It was a great birthday surprise for Jane and Sydney.

Of course, Jane and Sydney loved opening their presents. They had to fight off their big sister to hold on them though!

Honestly, it was a tough day for Clare. This was the first year that she seemed bothered by the fact that it wasn't her birthday. She wanted presents, and just had a hard time dealing with the fact that it wasn't her day! I guess it's just one of life's lessons that you learn over time!

Jane and Sydney each got their own mini cake, and I love this picture of Sydney. She seems to be enjoying the birthday limelight!

Here is Jane blowing out her candles. Notice that two of her presents (Snow White and some gum) stayed very close to her!

The birthday girls had a great day. They enjoyed the spotlight and were especially proud of being three! It was a fun Minnie Mouse and Princess party!

The Big Reveal!!!

IT'S A BOY!

I can't even believe it!
We are thankful that everything looks good, and he is growing as he should be. Here is a picture of his little face:

The news of a boy adds a jolt of excitement to an already exciting time! We told the girls this evening, and they seem equally excited as well.
As Clare put it simply, "we have enough pink!"

Happy Birthday to Jane and Sydney!

Three years ago today, these two cuties entered the world! I can't believe how quickly the time has gone. What great blessings they both have been to our family.

Jane is still quite the mommy's girl. She is cautious around new people, asks a lot of questions, and is really coming into her own. She is great at puzzles, loves playing babies, and has some random ideas....like being Wendy for Halloween! Jane is a caring, sweet little girl who brings a smile to my face daily.

Sydney is a fireball! She is strong-willed and has a mind of her own. Her personality is quite the dichotomy. She loves princesses, make-up, dress-up and all things girly, but also loves adventure and rough and tumble playtime! She is the most fearless, active, Daddy's girl in the house. I think Sydney is going to be quite the little gymnast...she can almost do a cartwheel, which she has totally taught herself. In the right moment, she still loves to cuddle, and it warms my heart when she snuggles up with me.

How can it be that these two are three?
