Casey and I have known I was pregnant since practically day one. This pregnancy was planned, so I had a positive pregnancy test about as early on as possible. The moment I found out, I was instantly nervous that it would be twins again. I love my twins and feel more than blessed to have them, but I didn't want another set of twins. I just felt like that would turn our family into a sideshow at the circus. Not to mention, the higher risk pregnancy and the higher chance of bed rest, etc. I went to the doctor at around seven weeks, and found out there was one little baby! Now, the real excitement started building!
One of the things we were looking forward to the most was telling the girls. We waited until I was about ten weeks along, and then decided to tell them on a Friday night. We ate dinner outside on our patio, and Casey told them the news. Jane and Sydney listened to the announcement, but then quickly moved onto something else. I don't think I will ever forget the look on Clare's face. It was a mixture of happiness and confusion. She sat at the table for several minutes without saying a word. You could practically see her little wheels turning. She kept staring at my tummy. When we asked her if she was excited, she said "yes," but it definitely took her a few minutes to process the news.
Since then, she has asked many questions, but my favorite thus far is "Will you be able to take care of the baby by yourself when I am at school?"
After we told the girls, we wanted to wait another week until we really started spreading the word. I had one more doctor's appointment, and just wanted to make sure everything was as it should be. So, I told Clare not to tell anyone until we told her she could. Well, guess what? The next Tuesday, her teacher at school followed her to the car, and said "I heard your exciting news." Later, I asked Clare, "Did you tell your class about the baby?" She replied, "Yes. And I told them about the neighborhood party tonight." Glad those two things are equal in her mind!
Along the same lines, I was all set to tell my friend Kim (whose oldest daughter goes to school with Clare and who also has younger twin girls) on a Thursday. When I told her the news, she said, "Well, I had an idea because Sydney told me on Tuesday!"
The girls have taken to calling the baby "Precious." Like, this is where Precious will sleep. And we bought a pumpkin for Precious. Tonight Jane even called the baby "Precious Babycakes." I think it has a nice ring to it, don't you?
We are very excited to announce that I am pregnant with ONE healthy baby! I am 11 weeks along, and so far, everything looks great! Of course, prayers for a healthy, uneventful pregnancy would be greatly appreciated!
The last few weeks the girls have been participating in a little tumbling class with another girl from our neighborhood. Lucky for us, the teacher comes to our house!
We cleaned up the extra bedroom, and that has become the tumbling room. I agreed to do this mainly for Jane and Sydney. They always have to tag along to Clare's events, and I thought this would be an easy way to for them to get to do something!
Here they are stretching and warming up....
Here are Jane, Clare, and Sydney doing their "log rolls." Most of the stuff they do in the class is pretty basic, strength building stuff. It is really too easy for Clare, but she seems to enjoy it.
It has been a fun, convenient way to introduce the girls to gymnastics!
