"Summer" School

In an attempt to have something to do this summer, my friend Julie and I came up with the idea to have some activities planned throughout the break. We are taking the letters in the word 'summer' and spending a week on each one. Monday we learn the letter, Tuesday is an art project, Wednesday a Bible story and so on. Clare knows all of her letters and can write most of them, but not all. Jane and Sydney are still learning their letters. So, this plan works for all of them. Clare can practice writing each one, and the little girls can really start putting the sound and the letter together. It really sounds much more official than it is, but during those moments where everyone is bored and getting fussy, it is nice to have a plan!

With all that said , this week we started "S."

We glued with sand,

painted with salt water,

learned the story of Samson, went to the splash park, played in the sprinkler, and talked about the 'snake sound' quite a bit!

The girls and I had a fun first week of summer!

Lady Jane

Little Miss Jane is one sweet little girl!

She is such an interesting mix of traits. Of my three girls, she definitely likes to be held the most. She is typically the one who has the hardest time at "drop-offs" at church and places like that.

On the other hand, she is the most fearless when exploring new places. Jane will be the first to venture into the playground at a restaurant, go into a bounce house, or run through the water at the splash park.

She makes the best facial expressions! Her mannerisms and her little voice bring a smile to my face daily!

Jane has proven to be very stubborn in the potty training arena. She is definitely making progress, but it is a slow-go. She is out of diapers while she is awake, but we still aren't home free. This child can "hold it" longer than anyone I have ever met...just so she doesn't have to sit on the potty! Sometimes she just waits a bit too long, and an accident happens...which is very traumatic for Jane.

She often does things that remind me of Clare. Faces, behaviors...just occasionally, I am reminded of her big sister.

Out of the blue, Jane will walk up to me and give me a hug. She often wants "a hug and a kiss and a hug and a kiss!" She gets so excited about things, from going swimming to eating cereal, and will say "That's my favorite!"

I love Jane's gentle spirit and her fun personality. I love that she is so playful and so sweet all wrapped up in one. I also love that I get to be her mom!

Preschool Program, Picnic Style

The theme for Clare's end of school preschool program was "Preschool Life is a Picnic!" Her class sang Peanut Butter and Jelly and Sticky, Sticky Bubblegum. Clare was so excited before her program; she was bouncing off of the walls!

You could see she was visibly nervous when she went on stage,

but she perked up once she found her fan club in the audience!

I am not sure why Clare is making this grand gesture when no one else is doing it, but I love the picture, nonetheless.

Another year of preschool in the books. Only one more. Wow.
