Clare's (1st) 4th Birthday Party

Since Clare's birthday fell on the week after we moved, we decided to have a small family party. In a few weeks we will a "friend party." So on Monday night, the family gathered at our new place amidst boxes and bubble wrap to celebrate Clare's 4th!

This has been such a fun birthday for her. She has been excited for weeks! All day long, she kept asking me questions about the party. "Are we having pizza for dinner because it's my party?" and "Do I need to get my clothes on to get ready for the party?"

Clare had lots of help opening presents and blowing out candles. Jane, Sydney, and Brody were right in the midst of all of the activities. Clare enjoyed the limelight and is now looking forward to her "friend party."

I can't believe I have a four year old!

March Madness

What a crazy month!
We have packed, moved,

said good-bye to this place,

hello to a new place where we have played,

(and played and played) on the new swing set,

and today we began our birthday celebration of this little lady who will be four tomorrow!

During Clare's prayer last night, she said, "Dear God, Please let us have a great time when we move and let me have a wonderful time in kindergarten." Guess she's planning ahead since that won't happen until fall of 2011.

I asked Clare what holiday was coming up next, and she answered "MY BIRTHDAY!!!!" Not quite a national holiday, sweetie, but good try.

Clare had to use the restroom at a restaurant the other day. When we got in the car, she said she had to go again. I said, 'Again?" She replied, "Yeah, I don't know what's up with that."

At midnight last Saturday night, I woke up hearing Clare's voice. Turns out she was sleepwalking through the kitchen. When I walked out there, she said, "I forgot to get my candy." The next morning she had no recollection. What a great habit to start right before we move to a two-story house.

Sydney was screaming in the car the other day. Not because she was upset, just screaming to be ornery.
Me: Sydney stop screaming.
Me: Sydney, that is enough.
Me: Sydney that is too loud in the car.
Me: (Trying a new tactic, I ignore her.)
Sydney: Mommy, I"m Screaming! Mommy, I'm screaming. MOMMY, I'M SCREAMING!!!

She Marches To Her Own Beat

First, there was the time Sydney insisted on wearing two pair of underwear over her diaper.

Then, there was the time she wanted to wear her tutu out to lunch and to the park. I obliged. Some things aren't worth fighting.

Outfits like this are a regular occurrence around here.

And today, she insisted on this lovely ensemble. Tights, a dress, and a turtleneck onesie on top of it all. Quite lovely.

Miss Sydney has some strong opinions about her clothing....and everything else!

Here are a few pictures that Deedee has taken over the last few weeks:

Not much blog-worthy stuff going on around here. I mean, who really wants to see (or hear about) moving boxes and garage sales?! The girls, however, are thoroughly enjoying having and endless supply of bubble wrap laying around!

These Two

These two girls are really coming into their own. They are each developing such great little personalities, and cracking me up in the meantime!

It is so funny to eavesdrop on their conversations. They have perfected the art of the duet in the car. They can sing "ABC's," "Twinkle Twinkle," and "Jesus Loves Me" in unison.

They are so silly together. They fight, sure, but they also love just hanging out.

Jane and Sydney are now going to "big girl" class at church, no longer sit in highchairs at home, and are becoming so much more conversational. They are looking so much older to me lately.

These two are so totally different, but so fun to watch together!

A month or so ago, I had a random idea that we should look for a new house. After some convincing, Casey slowly came on board. Fast forward to now, we have sold our house and bought another one, and my head is spinning! Although I was the instigator of this idea, I never expected it to happen so fast.

Our house sold in five days! I am beyond thankful...showing your house with three small children is not for the faint of heart. I am so appreciative to our helpful family members who allowed us to trash their homes in the name of keeping mine clean!

We spent one weekend (and many hours on the internet) looking at houses, and I am very excited about the one we found. It has more space, a great backyard, and I look forward to making it our home. Clare's two requests were that her bedroom be upstairs-check, and that it be close to a pool-check! She has asked many questions about the process of moving ("Do we get to take the counters?"), and seems excited about the new adventure. Jane and Sydney don't quite get it, but did enjoy the tour of the new house.

Needless to say, things are crazy busy. We are packing, inspecting, appraising, garage sale-ing, and trying to deal with everyday life as well. With the move and Clare's fourth birthday, March promises to be an exciting month!
