"Barbara Ann" by The Beach Boys...and Clare!

Here is Clare singing one of her favorite songs. Keep your eyes open for a couple of special cameos!

Clare and I had the privilege to go see Mary Poppins today with Deedee and Emmy. It was a special day that Clare and I have been looking forward to for quite some time.

First, we enjoyed a nice lunch before heading off to the show.
(Not sure if Mary Poppins would've approved of these table manners!)

Admittedly, I was slightly nervous about Clare's attention span. The show is close to three hours long, and it was smack-dab in the middle of nap time. Thankfully, Clare did great. She was fidgety and restless for parts of it, but she was quiet and attentive for the majority. Her favorite parts were when the man danced on the ceiling during "Step in Time" and when Mary Poppins flew over the audience at the end. My favorite part was watching her enjoy the show.
Huge thanks to Dale and Mary for making this a 'practically perfect' day!

Pigtail Professional

Over the past three years, pigtails have become pretty commonplace around our house.

(Clare in February 2008)

(Clare in June of 2008)

Not a week goes by where someone's hair doesn't get thrown up into pigtails.

All I need is a comb, two rubber bands, a squirt bottle, and a willing subject...of course.

The biggest benefit of pigtails is that they keep the hair out of the girls' faces.
An added bonus is that they are so cute.

I am fairly confident the job of "pigtail professional" doesn't exist, but I am certainly glad to have the opportunity to build my resume!

About Face

This past weekend Clare decided to really "decorate" her face up....although one feature was more intended than the other. On Friday morning, she was running into the bathroom, tripped and fell into the door frame. She cut her eye pretty good, and learned the definition of a "shiner."

However she made up for it on Saturday when she got her face painted at the Hot Air Balloon Festival! Her favorite part was the glitter that was sprinkled on her face after the butterfly was painted.

It isn't anyone's birthday and no one has met any significant milestones today, but I am feeling nostalgic.
How did these two tiny things.....

get to be such big girls in the blink of an eye?

Everyday someone comments to me on how big Jane and Sydney are getting. I can't disagree.

They are no longer babies, but instead walking, talking little girls.

Can someone please tell me....

where my babies went?

How come Jane and Sydney won't sit this still for a picture when I am taking it?

F.D.O.S., 2nd Edition

Today was Clare's first day of school! She was excited, and all reports say she had a good day! Last year, she was in the "Young 2's" class, and she was the oldest kid in the class. This year she has bumped up to the "Older 3's," so she is no longer the oldest kid....which I think is a good thing!

Here is our star student with her two sidekicks!

Last year on Clare's first day of school, I kept thinking that Clare was so little to start school. This year, I can't help but think that I only have two more years until she is in kindergarten. How can that be possible?

Survival of the Fittest

It seems that every developmental stage brings with it some positives and some negatives. At almost 21 months, Jane (right) and Sydney are talking quite a bit, moving around independently, sleeping great.....and FIGHTING! Oh, the fighting.

I am talking hair pulling, body dragging, and biting. It is ugly. Based on their personalities up to this point, I would've guessed that Sydney would be the main culprit. However, Jane (below) is instigating her fair share of the nastiness!

Just today, Jane bit Clare. I am talking a serious didn't break the skin, but almost. (Clare was very upset, and rightly so, but in the midst of her tears, said, "Jane is like a little mosquito." Needless to say, we have dealt with a lot of mosquito bites in the last few days.)

Of course they are sweet to each other too. They hug each other and kiss on each other, but you better beware, that kiss may come with a slap in the face!!!
