The Highlight of the Weekend

Guess what I found in the dryer with all of my clean clothes today?

It's bright.

It's yellow.

And it is all over our clothes.

Yep, it's a highlighter.

I think the culprit is about 3 feet tall and cute as a button.

Zerberts

It has come to my attention that not everyone calls blowing on a baby's tummy "zerberts." I guess that isn't the universal name I thought it was. What are some other names for it? What do you call it?

The Latest

The past couple of weeks around here have been pleasantly non-eventful. All of the girls are doing great. Casey is really liking his new job, and I am soaking up the good rhythm that we are lucky enough to be enjoying.

Despite the occasional meltdown, Clare is at such a fun age. Every stage that she goes through, I think to myself, "this is my favorite." Then, amazingly, I love the next stage just as much. Of course, the terrible two monster rears it's ugly head every now and again, and that is a phase I do NOT love. But, as all things parenting go, the good far outweighs the bad.

It's go time for the twins! Sydney has been crawling for a couple of weeks, and this past week Jane really took off. Too bad they always seem to go in opposite directions! While it is fun to see this new milestone come to fruition, it seems I am constantly on the lookout for someone putting something in her mouth.

(Sydney)

The little girls are both doing really well. They are sleeping well, enjoying some new finger foods, exploring everything, and just generally happy. It seems they are getting bigger everyday and really coming into their own.

(Jane)

This final picture just goes to show that the old saying is true...."You can't please everyone!"

Pat-a-cake, Clare Style

Translation:
"Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, Baker's man, Roll it, Pat it, Put it in the oven for Jane!"

Maroon and White

Since she was born, Jane has preferred her two middle fingers to a pacifier. She almost always has them in her mouth.

Casey is an Aggie, albeit, not a die-hard one. However, he certainly doesn't cheer for UT. Recently, when someone said, "Hey Casey, looks like you've got a longhorn on your hands,"

Casey replied, "No, she is saying UT sucks."

Frequently Asked Questions

We have been getting out and about more recently, and it is funny how many people stop to talk to me about the girls. Here is a list of questions, some from strangers and some from people I know, that I get quite often:

"Are your girls identical?"
While I understand the tendency to think all twins "look alike," I think this is a funny one. My girls don't really look any more alike than any other set of siblings, but I get this question ALL of the time.

"Do you nurse the twins at the same time?"
Sometimes. If they are both fussy, then yes. If not, I prefer to feed them one at a time.

"How does Casey handle being in a house with four girls?"
He loves it....most of the time. Ask me again in 15 years.

"Do you keep the twins on a schedule?"
Yes!!! I don't know how NOT to have a schedule. I work much better with a pretty firm plan in place. That certainly doesn't mean that the schedule never gets altered, but I need to have some predictability during the day.

"Is there a 'good one'?"
I understand this question is very innocent in nature, and most people are simply wanting to know if the girls have different personalities. However, I am becoming less and less comfortable with this idea. It is true that Jane is my more easy-going baby, but to describe her as "the good one" means that Sydney is the "bad one"...which I couldn't disagree with more. And in keeping with that train of thought, if there is a "pretty one," there must be an "ugly one" etc. So the next time someone says "Who is the good one?" I am going to say, courtesy of a "How Do You Do It" mom, "Depends on the day."

"Are you guys done having kids?"
Not sure yet. I think we are probably done, but I am not sure enough to do anything permanent about that.

And probably the most frequently asked question.....
"Do you watch Jon and Kate Plus 8?"
Of course!
