The Big Birthday Post

Clare is officially two. We had a great birthday weekend with her, complete with donuts, a trip to Chuck E. Cheese and a family birthday party. I think she enjoyed herself all weekend, and we enjoyed celebrating with her.
Her party was on Sunday afternoon. All morning we talked about what was going to happen, and she was very excited. She woke up from her nap, and I heard her calling me. However, instead of yelling "Mommy," she was yelling "CAKE!" This girl knows what she wants! Speaking of....

Of course, she had to try out her new sprinkler.

I have a ton more pictures, but Blogger isn't letting me load them right now. Maybe tomorrow...

Say It Ain't So

Could someone please tell me how it is possible that this cute thing is going to be two on Sunday? If anyone has figured out how to freeze time, I would love to be enlightened....she is growing up way too fast.

Easter, Easter, and More Easter

Sydney on left, Jane on right

Phew. We made it. We took all of the girls to church yesterday! Not only was today the twins' first Easter, it was also their first trip to church...and we all survived. I am pleased to say that no one from the congregation asked us to leave, although I am sure the people sitting around us didn't get to hear much of the sermon!

Following church, we headed over to Mom and Dad's house, where Deedee and Papaw met us for lunch and an Easter egg hunt.

Here come lots of pictures. Some are from an Easter egg hunt last weekend and some from yesterday. Sit back, relax, and enjoy.

Sydney loves Easter!

Did the Easter bunny come?

I think it is next to impossible to get a good picture of all five of us. Here are a few of our attempts.

Ready, set, yawn!

Not too sure about the blue chick

Busting out the Bumbo

We went to Casey's mom's house on Friday evening for dinner. While we were there, we decided to try out the Bumbo. Both girls seemed to enjoy the view from the new angle.

And, just to compare, here is Clare during one of her first attempts. I always forget how chubby she was!

Just An Update

We had such a good day around here today. Nothing overly special, just a few fun activities with everyone in good moods!

(Sydney on left, Jane on right)

After a tough week last week, the little girls have rallied. I hesitate to say too much because I know that it can change in a matter of moments, and I don't want to jinx it. Hopefully, the pleasantness will hang around for a while. I feel like I am figuring out a good routine for them, and they are responding well. They are sleeping better at night, usually waking up once around 4ish. Today and yesterday they did great going to sleep at nap time. I was able to put them in their cribs and let them go to sleep on their own, and there were hardly any tears. It will be so nice if I don't have to stand over their cribs and pat their bottoms every time they need to go to sleep!

Clare and I have been having so much fun lately. Her favorite activity the past few weeks has been play-doh. Unfortunately, she left all of it out last night, so it was all dried and nasty. So today we made some homemade play-doh, and it worked great. She had fun helping, and she got to pick which colors to make.

Clare felt strongly about supporting her father's alma mater during tonight's basketball game. I especially like the pose. Too bad, her team spirit didn't last too long!

My First Ever Blog Poll

Those of you who know me well, know that I am a sucker for a good Sonic vanilla coke to be specific. Since we don't get out of the house much, it isn't unusual for me to request a drink from anyone who might be stopping by. Thankfully, Casey shares my love of a "good drink." When someone asked him where he would want a gift card from for Christmas, his answer was Sonic. Thus the subject of the very important blog poll. Vote and let your voice be heard!!!

Not everyone was happy, but at least they all matched! Jane on the left; Sydney on the right.

Mama Said There'd Be Days Like This

Oh, today was one of those days. And the worst part of it is that I have only had the two little ones for the afternoon. Clare has gone to her grandparents, so it has been just me and the twins. It seemed as though Jane and Sydney just couldn't be happy for any period of time to speak of. Sydney is especially giving me a run for my money the last few days. She seems to be pretty upset a lot of the time, and by 'pretty upset,' I mean screaming her head off.

So, I thought I would split them up for nap time this evening. I put Jane in the pack n' play in our bedroom and Sydney in the nursery. When Sydney started crying, Jane started crying. What the heck??? I went to check on Jane first, and I hear Sydney's voice loud and clear....coming through the baby monitor. I forgot to turn it off. I am a genius like that.

On the positive side, both girls slept until 4:00 last night. That is huge. And, I took Jane to the doctor yesterday for a recheck and she weighs 11 lbs. 11 oz. All in all, the girls are doing well....just a couple of rough days. And I know it is just a phase and that next week, I'll be complaining about something else. But days like today cause me to dig through the Easter candy that I have stored away.

Must go...Sydney is calling!

One of My Favorite Things

When I was on bed rest, Casey started taking Clare to McDonald's on Saturday mornings. They would have pancakes and play on the indoor playground. Since the twins have arrived, this has become a standing date between the two of them, and I love it. Every week is a slightly different experience, from what I am told. Sometimes it is very crowded, and Clare is too shy to go play. Other times, they have the run of the place and Casey will climb through the tunnels with her. Or there was the time that a kid threw up one of the of the tunnels that Casey and Clare had to climb through to get out! However, the constants are pancakes, 'dip dip' (syrup), and the playground. Of course there are weekends that they don't get to go, but more often than not, on Saturday mornings you will find two of my favorite people eating under the golden arches. I love this weekly event for several reasons:
1. I get some extra, much appreciated sleep.
2. I think it is great for Clare to have some special time with her parents, without her sisters around. Especially with her Daddy. There is something special about a father/daughter relationship, and I want to encourage that as much as possible.
3. Also, this outing is something that I can see continuing well into the future. Even when Clare is older, I still think she might enjoy have pancakes with her Dad....hopefully.
4. With the babies on lock-down, Clare is forced to stay home most of the time. This is a fun reason for her to get out of the house.
5. Did I mention the sleep?

Weekend Recap

The girls were having a little tummy time while Deedee watched them. She kept them on Sunday morning so Casey and I could both go to church with Clare. Soon, we should be able to go as a family of 5....that'll be interesting!

On Saturday night we went out to dinner with Morgan, my sister-in-law, to celebrate her 17th birthday! We had a great time, and Clare did great...even with a 45 minute wait! It was a fun evening.

I actually captured a smile! I got some with her eyes open, but I thought this was funny. This past week I decided that it was time for Clare to give up her "bink." She is allowed to have it in her bed, but that is it. We have had a few meltdowns, mainly when she is tired or has just fallen down or something, but overall, it is going pretty well. She always amazes me with how well she adapts to new situations.
